banana clip
The hairpiece is attached using two large curved hair combs that slide into each other. Banana clips are only used for relatively large hairpieces.
band wig/half wig
With band wigs, the wig is attached to a strong elastic hairband or a headband. This means that your own hair can remain visible at the forehead, giving the impression that you are only wearing a hairband.
clip fastening
The hairpiece is attached to a clip that has a tension spring. This makes it very easy to integrate it into your own hairstyle.
clips / toupee clips
There are many different types of clips for attaching hairpieces. These can be small combs that are attached to the hairpiece, in different sizes and shapes, but also small lockable clips that are sewn in or can be sewn in.
double monofilament
Like monofilament, but with a second fine net. This makes the wig even more skin-friendly and if there is still natural hair, it won't shine through.
monofilament
Very fine mesh insert on the top of the wig, to which the individual hairs are tied by hand, so that when you look through the scalp you can't see the wig. This also gives you the option of parting your hair as you wish.
Only high quality wigs have a monofilament.
human hair
Natural hair, mostly from India. Human hair requires intensive care, similar to your natural hair.
Human hair wigs can be dyed like your own hair and styled as you wish.
Advantages
- The hair can be dyed.
- The hair can be straightened or curled.
- The wig does not attract attention due to its completely natural look.
- The wig lasts longer.
- The hair tolerates any shampoo.
Disadvantages
- Hair is more time-consuming to care for.
- Real hair has its price.
Remy Hair (or Remi Hair) is human hair that meets the following requirements:
- the cuticle of the hair used is intact,
- the cuticle of each hair is 100% aligned in the same growth direction (hair root - hair tip).
Color names of wigs/hair replacements
The color names of the wigs vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the following generally applies:
The number 1 always means black, the number 6 brown and the number 14 dark blonde, 22 light blonde etc., colour numbers between 26 and 33 are reddish blonde to reddish brown tones, colour designation 34 dark brown with 20% grey streaks, 38 light brown with 20% grey streaks, 44 black/white (salt and pepper), around 50 to 100 are usually grey to white tones.
If several colors are separated by "/" or "-", the first number corresponds to the color with the largest color content and is supplemented by the others.
The letters indicate variations (fashion/shadded etc.) or the colour rings used.
In some cases, there are no numbers for individual colors, but only color names are used.
film approach/Lacefront
With normal wigs, the hairline is always the problem; the hairstyle must be styled so that it is not visible. Wigs with lace fronts have a monofilament insert up to the forehead, where the hair is individually knotted in by hand. This is so fine that nothing of the wig is visible at the hairline. With a lace front, hairstyles without bangs are possible, as no wigline is visible.
Moldable synthetic hair / Futura fiber
The soft, very natural-looking fiber can be blow-dried like real hair because it is heat-resistant, and can be shaped almost as desired and thus styled individually, while at the same time being extremely durable.
Important : The moldable synthetic hair must be reshaped when wet.
Advantages
- Looks as natural as real hair.
- Durable fiber.
- Has no metallic shine.
- Because fiber is heat-resistant, it can be reshaped as desired.
- When reshaping with heat (hair must be damp), the fiber remains permanent until the fiber is treated with heat again.
Disadvantages
- Dyeing not possible.
- Permanent wave not possible.
half wig
With band wigs, the wig is attached to a strong elastic hairband or a headband. This means that your own hair can remain visible at the forehead, giving the impression that you are only wearing a hairband.
Hand-knotted
Hand-knotted wigs with monofilament and lace front/film front are the best in terms of quality. They are made entirely by hand. Hand-knotted wigs are mainly worn by people who are dependent on a wig (chemotherapy / alopecia areata).
Kanekalon
Brand name of a high-quality synthetic hair.
synthetic hair
Synthetic hair does not need to be restyled after washing, it looks and feels very natural, and is therefore particularly easy to care for.
Advantages
- "Ready to go" - the synthetic hair wig is fully styled.
- The wig retains its original look even after washing.
- Inexpensive.
- Easy-care.
- Large selection of models.
Disadvantages
- The hair does not tolerate heat.
- You have to decide on a hairstyle: "curly" or "straight". The synthetic hair cannot be styled any other way.
- The wig will not last as long as real hair.
- Can only be washed with a special shampoo.
lace front/film approach
With normal wigs, the hairline is always the problem; the hairstyle must be styled so that it is not visible. Wigs with lace fronts have a monofilament insert up to the forehead, where the hair is individually knotted in by hand. This is so fine that nothing of the wig is visible at the hairline. With a lace front, hairstyles without bangs are possible, as no wigline is visible.
Mono
Abbreviation for monofilament. Very fine mesh insert on the top of the wig, to which the individual hairs are tied by hand, so that when you look through the scalp you can't see the wig. This also gives you the option of parting the hair however you like. Only very high-quality wigs have a monofilament.

Here the hair is darker at the hairline. It looks very natural, as it looks as if the dyed hair has already grown out a bit.
crown monofilament / mono crown
Only a relatively small part is provided with monofilament. Very fine mesh insert on the top of the head in the parting area of the wig, where the individual hairs are tied in by hand, so that when you look through to the scalp, nothing of the wig is visible. Like monofilament, only the monofilament part is smaller and limited to the crown or crown. Very fine mesh insert on the top of the wig, to which the individual hairs are tied by hand, so that when you look through to the scalp, you cannot see the wig. Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
