The first wig purchase

Choosing the first wig

If you consider the following points, your decision may be a little easier.

Wig made of human hair - synthetic - mixed hair (Prime Hair/Platinum Hair/Duo Fiber)?

Which hair quality you choose depends not least on your personal requirements.

When buying a wig, the question often arises: synthetic or real hair? At first glance, the synthetic hair wig seems to be a cost-effective alternative, but real hair impresses with its natural look, easy care and durability. However, a blanket recommendation cannot be made, as both types of fiber and their respective variations have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on individual needs and preferences.

Human hair wigs offer the possibility of changing the style flexibly - whether straightening, curling or dyeing. They are heat-resistant and can be styled as desired. The disadvantage, however, is the higher maintenance effort and the time required for styling after each wash. Synthetic hair wigs, on the other hand, retain their shape even after washing. Simply let them dry, shake them out and they are ready to use. These wigs offer a fixed look and require hardly any maintenance. However, styling is also possible with heat-resistant synthetic fibers.

When it comes to choice and price, human hair wigs are usually more expensive and less common, while synthetic hair wigs offer a greater variety of models and colors. Mixed hair wigs (known as Prime Hair, Platinum Hair or Duo Fiber depending on the manufacturer) offer the best of both worlds: a mixture of high-quality human hair and heat-resistant synthetic hair. This combines the advantages of both fiber types - natural look, easy care and flexibility when styling.

The decision between synthetic and human hair depends on a number of factors. Synthetic hair wigs are particularly suitable if you are on a budget or are looking for an easy-care, ready-to-wear solution. They also offer a wide range of colours (there are almost no grey human hair wigs, for example), styles and finishes.

Human hair wigs are ideal if you value a natural look and versatile styling options. They are more durable and offer a more realistic appearance, but require more care.

For people with sensitive skin or allergies, real hair wigs are often the better choice because they are more skin-friendly. In this case, health insurance companies usually cover the costs of a real hair wig.

Depending on the reasons for wearing the wig, it is important to choose the right type of processing.

The different types of wig processing: An overview

The quality of wigs varies not only in terms of the hair material, but also in the way the hair - whether synthetic or real hair - is attached to the wig. The construction, i.e. the processing method, influences the look, comfort and durability of the wig. In this article, we take a look at the different processing methods, their properties and their respective advantages.

lace front

The lace front, also known as a film front, allows for a particularly natural hairline in the forehead area. The edge of the wig is almost invisible, so that the bangs look as if they have grown naturally and can be styled in many different ways.

wefted

A weft wig is the simplest and most cost-effective option. The hair - usually synthetic hair - is machine sewn onto thin threads, known as wefts. These wefts are then attached to fine bands that form the frame of the wig. The advantage of the weft wig is the excellent air circulation and the achievable hair volume at the roots. The weft frame is often combined with other types of frame, for example for the back area.

monofilament

Monofilament is a fine, almost transparent and comfortable material to wear, onto which the individual hairs are tied. This allows for a natural look that looks like your own scalp. Depending on the size of the filament mount, which is usually combined with wefts (then a partial monofilament mount is for the parting or swirl), the parting and swirl can be placed as desired.

100% hand-knotted

This method uses fine tulle instead of wefts, onto which the hair is individually knotted by hand. This type of wig is particularly light, breathable and can hardly be distinguished from real hair.

monofilament and 100% hand-knotted

For the most natural look, this wig combines a monofilament on the top of the head with a predominant portion of hand-knotted hair on fine tulle. The top of the head is individually incorporated into the monofilament, while the rest of the wig features hand-knotted hair on tulle. The result is a wig that is as light as a feather, breathable and almost indistinguishable from real hair.

Which wig processing is right for you?

The choice of wig depends on your individual needs and cannot be answered in general terms.

haircut and hair length of the wig

When choosing a hairstyle, think about what haircuts you have had in the past, how satisfied you were with them, or what hairstyle you might want to try. It is best to consult with your family or friends if you are unsure.

Choosing the right hair color for your wig

When choosing the right color, it can be helpful to ask yourself the following questions:

1. What color is my own hair?

2. Which colors have I had before and which of them suited me well.

Each of our models comes with color images showing the available hair colors.

If you have problems choosing a color and need help, we are happy to advise you at any time by phone at 030-89409449 .

Of course, you also have the option of sending us a strand of your hair or your current wig or a clearly recognizable color photo. We will then select the right hair color for you.

The right size of the wig

Unless otherwise stated, wigs for women have a standard size of 55 cm and are adjustable in size using elastic bands at the neck (approx. +/- 2 cm).

Men's wigs have a standard size of 58 cm, unless otherwise stated, and are also adjustable in size using elastic bands at the neck (approx. +/- 2 cm).

If you wear the wig over your own hair, we recommend wearing a hair net - wig cap (net) for a better fit.

The head size or head circumference is measured from the neck over the forehead back to the neck along the hairline.

If you have any questions about the ordering process or choosing the right wig, we are happy to help you by phone.
