How often should human hair be cleaned?
How often you should clean your wig or hairpiece made of real hair depends largely on how intensively you use it. Regular cleaning increases the lifespan of the hairpiece and preserves its silky, natural shine. For average daily use, we recommend cleaning the hair about once or twice a week. Adjust the frequency depending on your daily activities.
Step-by-step instructions for cleaning human hair
-
Place the wig or hairpiece made of real hair on a Styrofoam head. You can fix the hairpiece in place with a pin. However, avoid piercing the monofilament or the lace front.
-
Before washing, comb the hair with a soft brush with rounded bristles and carefully remove any knots. If there are still residues of real hair styling products in the hair, these will be automatically dissolved by the wig shampoo in the next wash cycle.
-
Now moisten the real hair of the wig or hairpiece by holding it under running, lukewarm water in the direction it falls - from the roots to the tips. Please do not put the model in a water bath.
-
Take a hazelnut-sized amount of ellen wille Human Hair Shampoo and gently massage it in from the roots to the ends. Please do not apply any pressure when massaging.
-
Rinse the ellen wille Human Hair Shampoo thoroughly under clean water until no shampoo residue remains.
-
Carry out a second treatment with ellen wille Human Hair Balm. Take a hazelnut-sized amount of balm and gently stroke it from the roots towards the tips.
-
Rinse the human hair thoroughly under clear, running water a second time. Gently pat the hair dry with a towel. Please do not rub or wring vigorously.
-
After every fourth treatment, use the ellen wille Human Hair Intensive Recovery Mask instead of the conditioner. This regenerates the hair and moisturizes it. Leave the recovery mask on for 10 minutes. Then rinse the hair under lukewarm water and pat it dry carefully.
-
A special wig stand or head is ideal for letting the real hair model air dry. You can then style the hairpiece or wig as you wish.
Another care tip from Ellen Wille
If you need it quickly: Simply spray a few puffs of ellen wille Care'n Repair spray treatment into damp hair and do not rinse the hair afterwards. The spray treatment with repair effect moisturizes the hair and makes it easy to comb - without rinsing.
